bnurtured is delighted to announce the introduction of our new environmentally friendly labels, it is a material called EarthFirst PLA and it is made from corn, a renewable resource.

Until recently there have been virtually no environmentally friendly options for labels, in general they are made from petroleum. We are committed to earth-friendly business practices, so this was a natural step for us. Not only is it made from corn instead of imported petroleum, it takes less energy to produce.

I just had to take time out to say how proud I am of the events that took place yesterday. We have elected a great man into office that has such a spirited vision for our country.

I have never felt so accomplished in all of my life, we as a country have proved that we can do anything, anything, anything. Anything is possible.

I pray for peace, unity, love and safety for our nation, I also pray that God place a hedge of protection around the Obama family as they reach for higher ground.

Let us remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream for this country. His dream has been realized.

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.

We cannot turn back.

There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by a sign stating: "For Whites Only." We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."¹

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest -- quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.

Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."²

This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.

With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,

From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!³

Now Is The Time To Vote

No matter who you are voting for, VOTE!!! It is your right as an American to cast your ballot. Please dont let the kids, work, life, etc. be an excuse for not voting.
This election is far to important not to vote.

If you choose not to vote, you are making the choice to remain SILENT for the next four years. If you do nothing to effect change, you have no right to complain about the issues facing our nation.

I was in line to vote at 6:30am this morning and it took about an hour to get through the line. I didn't experience any voting issues, it was a smooth process.

Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks are giving out FREE cups of coffee if you show them you voter sticker.

1. Save money in the bathroom

Buy water-efficient showerheads. With low-flow models, a family of four can cut water usage by as much as 280 gallons a month — and yet not feel much difference in water pressure. Two we like: Kohler's Master Shower Eco (kohler.com) and Niagara Conservation's Earth Massage (niagaraconservation.com).

2. Bring home superhero plants

Certain greens can help remove indoor air pollutants like formaldehyde and benzene. Don't have the gardening gene? Golden pathos, English ivy, and peace lilies are all easy-to-grow toxin fighters.

3. Recycle rechargeables

Cell phones, digital cameras, and camcorders have made these batteries more popular than ever, but in certain states — Florida, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Vermont — it's illegal to throw them away. Wherever you live, you can find a nearby store that will recycle them for you; just go to rbrc.org.

4. Adjust fridge and freezer temps

Refrigerators eat up the most electricity in the household. Maximize efficiency by keeping the fridge at 37° F. and the freezer at 0° F.

5. Lighten up with energy savings

Consider using compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). They cost a bit more than regular bulbs, but you'll lower your electric bill and pay less in the long run — CFLs last up to 10 times longer than traditional ones. (Worried that fluorescents will fill your house with a greenish glow? That's no longer a problem. When we compared a regular bulb with a GE Energy Star Qualified CFL, testers couldn't tell the difference.) You can buy CFLs at most hardware and home stores. To save more on lighting, install dimmer switches and use timers, indoors and out.

6. Recycle smart

From furniture to electronics, one person's trash is another's treasure — so when you want to dispose of an old item, don't make the dump your first stop. Two sites with alternatives: freecycle.org and earth911.org.

7. Mow-ercise!

Today's non-gasoline-powered reel lawn mowers are easier to push than the old models. Their eco-benefit: zero emissions (plus, you're getting great exercise). If you prefer a power mower, consider a quiet, battery-operated model from Black & Decker.

8. Warm up to solar energy

You may not be ready for a totally sun-powered home, but you can get a taste of the technology by using solar-powered lighting in your yard or on your patio. We like Malibu's Solar Floodlight (intermatic.com)

9. Go native

Plant flowers and shrubs that are well suited to your climate (the staff at your local nursery can help). The benefit: You'll use less fertilizer and pesticides.

10. Buy a laptop

It uses considerably less power than a desktop computer.

11. Get off junk mail lists

Register with the Direct Marketing Association's Mail Preference Service (dmaconsumers.org) and you'll see a significant reduction in mail after three months.

12. Double up on printing

Configure your printer so that it prints on both sides of the page. You know those extra pages you get when printing out one simple email? Turn them over and put them back in the printer for reuse.

13. Protect the earth while you picnic

At your next outdoor party, ask people to write their names on disposable cups so they'll use only one (to make it easy, put out markers). If you use disposable dinnerware, buy the kind that won't clog landfills or kill trees. To try: EarthShell plates and bowls (earthshell.com). They're made from corn, potatoes, and limestone — and cost less than 6 cents per plate.

As you all know I have been whipping up my bath and body products for a minute now. Well I recently had a meeting with TJ MAXX and MARSHALLS and beginning mid November they will be carrying bnurtured's line of specialty body butters.

YES..YES..YES...Finally I say....I have been working hard at getting a major account and have now secured TWO major accounts. This has been a long and hard process, but my persistence has definitely paid off. Hopefully, this is the beginning of big, bigger things to come.

Small Bath & Body Companies Need Help

Recently, Congressman Dingell, chairman of the Congressional Committee on Energy and Commerce, is currrently reviewing legislation designed to overhaul the federal regulations governing beauty companies. The Food And Drug Administration Globalization Act of 2008 proposes new registration fees (up to $12,000 per year, with no relief for small businesses), a flood of new paperwork and a host of unnecessary new rules. Unfortunately, the proposal does not address methods for increased enforcement of already under-enforced federal laws and it offers consumers no more protection than the system currently in place. The end result will be a new law which will effectively stamp out small, independent beauty companies while corporate giants are left to flourish…and consumers pay the price via limited choice, a lack of new innovation and no more protection to speak of.

The Indie Beauty Network (IBN), has taken the lead in challenging this unfair legislation. A draft response is headed up to the committee in Washington soon to make the case against the law (at least in its current form), along with key industry insiders who share our view. I’m asking that consumers who enjoy personal care products and other independent beauty manufacturers join us in the fight by signing a petition from IBN.

Consumers are a critical part of this process and it takes just a moment lend your voice to the growing list of people who want meaningful legislation that promotes and supports small business, instead of more bureaucratic red tape that is the death nail of family business.If this act passes a lot of us will be out of business. Please take a moment to lend your voice by reading the petition. Then scroll to the bottom of the screen and leave your name and thoughts as a comment that will signify your support of the petition itself. Spread the word! Please post this your blogs, send emails , get the word out.

WFP has a dream: to feed 10 million more hungry school children in Africa by Thanksgiving Day. Even a small donation will go a long way. Porridge, rice or beans -- it takes just 25 cents to fill one of the Red Cups that WFP uses to give hungry kids regular school meals.
For a child suffering from hunger, going to school is not important; having enough food to eat is. Among the poor, there is often not enough food at home, and most schools in developing countries do not have canteens or cafeterias. The promise of at least one nutritious meal each day attracts children to school, boosts enrolment, promotes regular attendance, and enhances student performance.

I have been missing in action for a few months now. The relaunch of the bnurtured website was a huge success and has kept me extremely busy. Keeping up with orders, participating in beauty shows, opening new wholesale accounts.....has kept me on my toes. I must say I am very grateful for all the old and new business coming bnurtured's way.

Well I am about to make my website live. It is time for the re-launch. It has been a rough week getting ready for the launch and I am a little sleep deprived.
